Work Overview

This composition for jazz sextet was inspired by the high energy music of American punk band the Dead Kennedys, with a tango thrown in for good measure!

Year: 1993

Instrumentation: Trumpet, tenor saxophone, trombone, piano (doubling on keyboard), electric bass (using distortion), drums.

Duration: 10 min.

Difficulty: Advanced — Fast genre changes (between punk feel and tango)

Dedication note: Dedicated to two old friends, and two fellow lovers of punk rock, Danny and Su.

First performance: Dec 93. John Howley's Studio in Williamstown, Victoria.
