Library shelf no. 783.88542/KAY 2 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
John Honey's four song texts offered a whole range of thoughts and emotions many men can readily identify with as they approach older age. His ability to convey succinctly and directly such things as self satisfactions, self doubts, delights and anguishes of past experiences, apprehension and a sense of denial in quickly changing juxtapositions create an interesting feeling of uncertainty. The richness and variety of life experience is a dominant characteristic conveyed in these texts. I readily responded to the challenges these words posed for song setting and found the task an absolute joy.
