Work Overview

Music, if it is about any one dimension, is about time. Time, that enemy of the time-poor, stressed 21st century citizen. But there is nothing new. The title comes from the Roman senator who railed against 'the wretched hourglass'. This duet is an exploration of musicians fighting back against the seconds ticking away. The use of spatial dimension between the notes and their bow/mallet gives the piece its sonority. Hopefully it reflects musicians 'playing' as we all know, time flies when you are having fun!
