Work Overview

I wanted to compose a piece of music for 6-parts using a text by Michael Leunig, so I wrote to him to ask for his permission. My final sentence at the end of my email was that I hoped he would say hello to the duck for me. He replied by saying that he and the duck had discussed it, and that I would be allowed to go ahead with the project. Thank goodness! You can never tell with ducks.

This piece has moments of static, such as the beginning and the end, where there is a sense of prolonged and suspended time. The middle section has waves of melody, where love tends to overwhelm and reach a peak. This piece should be sung strongly with a sense of flow in the rhythms.
