Work Overview
Songs for a Day is an atmospheric collection of three songs for soprano and small chamber ensemble. The songs are fragile and intimate in nature, and seek to explore the emotions of an anonymous female protagonist throughout a 24 hour cycle.
Suddenly, the first song, was composed as part of the first annual Ritsos Project - a festival founded to celebrate the legacy of the Greek poet, Yannis Ritsos. The second and third songs in this collection, Morning and Afternoon were commissioned in 2014 by Ossia New Music.
