Work Overview
This is a piece with conventional western harmonies, and much of the musical interest is contained in the rhythms. The trumpet sets this scene with an opening rhythm of 2+3+4 quavers within a 6/4 time signature. There are considerable cross-rhythms throughout, creating a creative tension between the parts.
