I composed Reconciling Auras after the award of a grant from Arts Victoria in 1996. My aims were to highlight the talents of the didjeridu player Tom E. Lewis and the Orana Chamber Orchestra for whom the work was written.
The soloist's role ranges from a display in the form of unaccompanied solos (cadenzas) to integration into the fabric of the orchestral music.
Instrumentation: Didjeridu, oboe, clarinet in B flat, horn in F, bassoon, percussion (1 player), strings.
Duration: 8 min.
Difficulty: Soloist's part needs work; orchestra parts, medium difficulty.
Commission note: Commissioned with funds provided by Arts Victoria.
Composed following the award of an Arts Development Grant by Arts Victoria, 1996.
