Work Overview

The work consists of four distinct sections, or "headspaces", and a coda. Each of these "headspaces" are characterised by quite markedly different soundworlds, at times detailed and delicate, at other times loud and in your face. There are several different approaches to musical time, some quite static and others very much about forward drive and momentum. The piece uses the cello in standard fashion, as well as quite a few "extended" techniques that explore the range of the cello's timbral capabilities.
