Work Overview
Wolcom Yole! is a sparkling piece which welcomes the audience and conjures the excitement of the beginning of the Christmas season. The work retains the original "Middle English" of the 16th-century as used by Benjamin Britten. Overall, simple choral writing, often in unison, homophony or simple canon, is combined with energetic and rhythmic writing in the orchestra using short repeated rhythms.
