Instrumentation: 2 amplified text readers, voice, Renaissance recorder, slide whistle, medieval psaltery, sampler, vocorder, Fairlight.

Duration: 24 min.

Commission note: Commissioned by Klaus Schöning, director of the renowned Studio Akustische Kunst, West Deutsche Rundfonk, Köln.

First performance: 30 May 98.

Thrausmata is seven different renderings of six fragments of ancient Greek texts chosen by the composer for their enduring subjects of love, hospitality, war, sport, sexuality, philosophy and atomic theory.

Thrausmata represented Australia for the International Society of Contemporary Music in Bucharest in 1999 where it was highly commended.
