Score SampleView a sample of the score of this work
This is a calypso in the style of a Sonny Rollins calypso such as St. Thomas. It has an easy solo section to accomodate beginning improvisors and a longer solo section for those with a little experience. It can be used as a classroom resource. There is a lot of room to double up on parts if needed. It has sample piano comping patterns, bass lines and sample solos.
Instrumentation: 2 trumpets, 2 saxes, 2 trombone, guitar, piano, bass, drums.
Duration: 6 min.
Difficulty: Medium — calypso with a lot of syncopation
Written for: Tony Gorman
First performance: by Gai Bryant Quartet — 1998. SIMA (Sydney Improvised Music Association) at the Side On Cafe, Sydney
