Marche des bouchers : concert march / music by Gregory Butcher.
Library shelf no. 784.8/BUT 4 [Not for loan]
Work Overview
Marche des Bouchers (March of the Butchers) is
especially written to be performed at the European tempo of 96
bpm, and is to be played in the context and influential style
relating to a French or British 'pomp and ceremonial' march.
This march was written in celebration of the Butcher Family,
which contains five generations of professional musicians. The
Butcher family musicians began with my great grandfather Walter
Charles Butcher, a cornet soloist and lighting sketch artist who
played cornet in pantomimes in seaside towns like Whitstable,
Hern Bay and Faversham in Kent, England in the early 1900s.
