This work was written after taking my first trip to New Orleans in late 2010. The music was amazing and the lively atmosphere of the city was contagious. This piece incorporates a New Orleans second line feel and attempts to capture the euphoria my friends and I felt during our time there.
Instrumentation: 4 trumpets (mutes required), 4 trombones (mutes required), 5 saxophones, piano, guitar, bass and drums.
Duration: 7 min.
Difficulty: Advanced — Features improvised solos for 2nd trumpet and 1st trombone.

Commission note: This piece was commissioned by WAYJO (the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra) as a part of Jenna Cave's role as WAYJO's 2011 composer-in-residence.
