Based on the Aboriginal legend of how opals came into being. This work was written for the girls in two wind quintets at Ascham School in Sydney. It is designed to be played antiphonally with the two quintets separate and opposing one another.
Instrumentation: 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets in B flat, 2 horns in F, 2 bassoons.
Duration: 4 min.
