Work Overview

Starting with an adagio, open string drones section (piano playing the moving lines) the piece moves into an Andante; simple melodic writing -being a violinist myself, I could be tempted to say it is effective string writing, and 'sits' under the fingers. A useful work in learing to sustain sound and tone (as well as a fun piece....I included some free, ad lib harmonic glissandi on the open D string).

Work Details

Year: 2006

Instrumentation: Violin, piano.

Duration: 5 min.

Difficulty: Medium — adagio; long slow sustained lines for violin, (needs some vibrato) simple melodic writing, up to 3rd position. Around 3rd to 4th grade (AMEB) standard, I would think.
