Work Overview
This collection of three "voice portraits" is a subset of what became the larger collection "Stalin's Piano". Each movement is based on the recorded speech of a notable artist or politician, in this case the two architects Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier and the former Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard. The Julia Gillard "misogyny" speech was originally composed for choir, and is here arranged for piano. The pianist synchronises closely with the melodies and rhythms of the speeches, seen on video.
