This wistful piece is an affirmation of the beauty of Autumn. The melody and occasional counter melodic fragments need careful voicing. The sustaining pedal (often legato pedalling) is important for catching the lower supporting harmonies. Note the stillness and complete relaxation of bars 18 - 23. The tempo changes help to create the mood swings.
