Instrumentation: 3 flutes (each doubling piccolo, 3rd doubling alto flute), 2 oboes, cor anglais, 3 clarinets (2nd doubling piccolo clarinet in E flat, 3rd doubling bass clarinet), 2 bassoons, contra-bassoon, 4 horns, 3 trumpets, 3 trombones, timpani, percussion (3 players), 2 pianos, harp, strings, SATB choir, tape (pre-recorded pianos, vibraphone and glockenspiel).

[Star Chant] pays tribute to Aboriginal culture by linking the conventional Western names of stars and constellations with their equivalents from the Dreamtime stories of many different indigenous peoples.
