Work Overview
The plainsong Veni Creator Spiritus and the Dunstable
motet of the same title as this piece, are used as the starting
points for an exploration of a process of "built-in
resonance".
A canon has always been an "echo device", but in this piece the
canonic voices proceed at fluctuating speeds, so that the time
relationship between the voices is constantly shifting.
Throughout the piece, a single line is used, but decorated and
smudged outwards in such a way that the resulting sound can be
directionized and shaped.
