Work Overview
This piece is inspired by Emily Dickinson's Poem number 860 "Absence Disembodies, So does death".
The soprano powerfully sings the poem, the piano and vibraphone play in and out of phase, sometimes, accompanying somtimes taking the lead.
This work explores Middle Eastern modes in a contemporary context. It exloits the unique harmonic and textural possibilites of the vibraphone, piano and soprano in combination.
