Work Overview
Sighting Silence, Sounding Image was begun on residency at the Bundanon Arts Trust, Shoalhaven Region NSW in 2012 with collaborator/visual artist Flossie Peitsch, and completed in 2013. Pieces I, II, III and V were composed while on collaborative residency with visual artist Flossie Peitsch at Bundanon Arts Trust, West Cambewarra, Shoalhaven region, NSW, in November 2012, while pieces IV and VI were composed in 2013 with reference to photos of the related visual art works and other materials generated while at Bundanon. Each of the six pieces brings together multiple layers of inspiration, including my responses to Flossie's works, bird calls heard and notated during listening meditations at Bundanon, and elements of inspiration from Buddhist thought, writings, imagery, mantras, etc., from my involvement in Buddhist practice, mostly in the Zen tradition, from 2003 onwards.
