Work Overview

Inspired by Jordie Albiston's series of poems 'Botany Bay document', Dreaming Transportation is a dramatic song-cycle in a semi-documentary style that charts a feminine history from a contemporary perspective. This work is highly recommended as a music-drama work for upper secondary girls' schools and tertiary students.

Instrumentation: Five female voices, violin, clarinet in Bb (doubling soprano saxophone, alto saxophone), cello, accordion (doubling guitar, hurdy-gurdy and mandolin), piano, double bass, percussion (1 player).

Duration: 80 min.
