Work Overview

The first movement started life as a piece for the guitar, which was then arranged for solo cello, and ended up being incorporated into a four-movement Partita for cello that was performed in Switzerland in 2004.

A piano arrangement was made in 2013 and a new fugue was written especially for this score.

The Fantasy and Fugue adheres to the harmonic idiom of JS Bach from beginning to end. The use of changing time signatures reflects a more contemporary influence.
