Score & Part

Prelude and fugue : for flute, bassoon and piano / David Hush.

Library shelf no. 785.2613/HUS 1 [Available for loan]

Work Overview

An introspective piece in C minor, the Prelude concentrates on the lower register and leans towards harmonies with wide spacings. The Fugue that follows is a happy piece cast in the deliberately contrasting key of C Major. Taken as a whole, the Prelude and Fugue comes across as a highly optimistic composition.

The "darkness" of the Prelude followed by the "light" of the Fugue has a special relevance to a conference devoted to finding a cure for cancer.
