Work Overview

Dedicated to Danielle Eden, the Sarabande is the second of a series of pieces for flute or alto flute as preferred. The Sarabande reflects Bach's interest in the two-part binary form and has an introspective mood which recalls Bach's own Sarabande from his Partita for Solo Flute. The Sarabande closes with a dramatic cadenza-like coda designed to highlight the interpreter's virtuosity.
