Work Overview

The title reflects my philosophy of music as providing balm for the soul: nothing I have heard is more soothing to listen to than the double bass.

The piece is founded on two basic ideas. The first consists of open fifths played with a bow, while the second comprises fluid melodic lines played without a bow.

As things turned out, Elsen Price was the ideal musician to collaborate with on this project: on the one hand, he is classically trained; on the other, he has an extensive background in jazz.
