The Microsonatina represents a ternery (sonata) form as developed by Jurth. Its structure consists of a 1st subject and its development; a 2nd subject and its development; and, finally, a concise recapitulation. Other examples of Jurth's sonata form are found in A Long Way Off (1989) for piano quintet, in Noosa Trio (1992) for 2 violins and 'cello, as well as in Hungarian Music (1996) for string quartet and hi-hat.
