Work Overview
I studied composition privately with Malcolm Williamson between 1959 and 1964 in London. Our sessions were sporadic, but, over such an extended time, profoundly significant for me. His gifts were exceptional both as a musician and communicator. I not only had great admiration for Malcolm as a musician, but also much affection for his larger than life personality. This piece opens with a brief echo of Malcolm's characteristic extrovert exhuberance before taking on a more personal response to his loss.
