At night, space, form and sound reveal mysterious and subtle qualities which change in intensity between dusk and dawn.
Still forms contrasting with temporal events transforming into thoughts of pure fantasy comprise the main structural devices of this single movement work, initially inspired by characteristic night impressions of rural Southern Tasmania.
Instrumentation: Flute, violin, viola, cello, piano.
Duration: 20 min.
Commission note: Commissioned by University of Tasmania with funds provided by Australia Council. Performing Arts Board.. Commissioned by the University of Tasmania Centenary Committee to be performed at a special centenary concert on Tuesday, 13th February 1990
