Instrumentation: 2 piccolos, flute, 2 oboes, cor anglais, clarinet in E flat, clarinet in B flat, bass clarinet, 2 bassoons, contra-bassoon, 2 horns, piccolo trumpet, trumpet in B flat, 2 trombones, bass trombone, timpani, percussion (1 player), strings.

Inspired by the rhythmic freedom of Chinese calligraphic writing particularly the work of Wang To, a famous poet/calligrapher of the 17th century.
