Yemaya : lead sheet for jazz ensemble / Barney McAll.
Library shelf no. 785/MCA 1 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
'Mother of Dreams and Secrets' is one of the many descriptions of the Yoruba goddess of the Ocean and creativity, Yemaya. Barney first discovered Yemaya at a ceremony in Cuba in 1996 and has been drawn to trying to understand her and the profundity of Cuban music and culture ever since. His CD Mother of Dreams and Secrets continues his innovative, slowed-down explorations of Cuba's sacred rhythms, recorded in Egrem studios in Havana, and by US and Australian players in New York City.
