Work Overview
Orilla was inspired by the paintings of Spanish artist Fernando Zobel, whose work I discovered on a visit to Palma de Mallorca in April 2000. I have attempted to translate some of the themes of his work - the juxtaposing of cloud and line - into a musical context. The work should ideally be performed in a highly reverberant space that allows the 'clouds' of sound to resonate.
