Work

Give us the wings of faith (male choir with keyboard accompaniment)

by Brett McKern (2007)

Work Overview

This short and simple anthem was written for the tenors and basses of The Cathedral Singers, the Sydney-based choir, to sing at All Soul's Church, Leichhardt on All Saints' Day, 2007.

Although it is basically strophic, there are three different tunes for the verses used in the pattern ABAAC, each preceded and succeeded by a recurring organ interlude, with slight variation. This pattern makes the anthem easy to learn, and the text, while particularly appropriate for All Saints' Tide, is also useful for other saints' days and general use.

Although originally written for tenor and bass voices (hence the clef for the vocal parts), it would equally work well with equal parts of almost any variety.
