Work Overview
A setting of the 'Book of Common prayer' (1662) Gloria text. This stand-alone Gloria is intended for use when the rest of the Ordinary of the Mass is said such that the Hymn of Praise may still be sung. The organ part includes some chromatic modulations and twists that keep the work from the utter predictability that besets so many congregational works. This is intended to allow the work to be repeatedly performed without boredom. The congregational part is, nonetheless, within a limited vocal range.
