Work Overview

I wrote this piece in October of 2008 for my grand-daughter, Chanel.

As a voice teacher and conductor of young choristers, I have a very special interest in vocal and aural pedagogy.

Sleep and Dream was written with younger singers in mind, sitting comfortably as it does in the middle of the voice and within a range of one octave. It includes repetitive ideas and most of the song can be sung in solfa. The piece is essentially a lullaby in triple time, the first section being in unison and the second moving into two parts.
