Song of the wind : vocalise / Sandra Milliken.
Library shelf no. 782.7542/MIL 4 [Not for loan]
Work Overview
Song of the Wind is a vocalise that was composed as a warm-up exercise and prelude to The Wind Speaks to Me. The music is structured so as to give the director and/or performer some creative freedom in rehearsal and performance. Whilst the vocalise is written with a specific time signature, there is scope to explore and perform the piece with complete rhythmic freedom. There is no single correct manner in which the piece should be performed. Four indicted pitches can be used to establish the tonality and to set up the ambient mood of the piece by improvising an introduction. Different vowel sound options can be explored and appropriate dynamic shading used to create an effective atmosphere.
