Work Overview

The piece consists of 11 sections based around a note either an augmented or a diminished 5th apart. Section A is centred around B flat, which is then followed by sections centred around E - A flat - D - G flat, until the note F is reached (a perfect 5th from B flat). Section G continues around the note C sharp that is then followed by sections centered around G - D sharp - A, at which point the piece returns to centre around the note B flat. Rhythmic organisation occurring within most sections consists of notes held for 1 semiquaver, 2 semiquavers, 3 semiquavers and 4 semiquavers either in this configuration or partly, which then reverses back (2-3-4-3-2 etc.)
