The fairy dance : percussion duo / Katherine Rawlings.
Library shelf no. 785.6812/RAW 1 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
This piece is an arrangement (for percussion duo) of the third movement of "Anthea's Garden" (2003) which was originally written for solo percussion. It is intended to appeal to children and was written as a musical depiction of a fairy dance, as suggested in the title. The original five movement work was a requiem for a close high school friend, and the subject matter was chosen according to things that Anthea loved. Her plan to be a children's book illustrator gave me a framework to work with musically.
