Duet 1 : hidden melodies, for piano duet / Haydn Reeder.
Library shelf no. 785.62121/REE 2 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
This piece is in three sections with figuration in the first section in the bass being mirrored in the third section in the treble. The figuration changes by only one note at each repetition: these new notes could form a melody but remain hidden. In the middle section repetitiveness is featured in the continually circling slow bass line above which a melody marches along in step, each melody note accompanied by a staccato chord which could be perceived as a sort of aural halo.
