Instrumentation: 2 violins, viola, cello.

Duration: 7 min.

First performance: by Petra String Quartet — 22 Mar 80. Hobart, Tasmania

Inspired by D.H. Lawrence's novel Kangaroo, which is set in the 'small town' of Thirroul south of Sydney.

Originally part of a five-movement work, 'The Fifth Continent' for speaker and orchestra.

Arranged for string quartet by David Matthews.
