Work Overview
Between the peace lines is composed in a very expressive lyrical style. The harmony features extended chords joined unconventionally and chromatically through contrapuntal interplay. Rhythmic phrasing is irregular and unpredictable. The Introduction and Scherzo pay homage to the legacy of 19th century piano trio repertoire. The third movement Elegy exhibits the pathos of an Irish folk song while the final movmement Kelly's Dance is an energetic jig.
