Le tombeau de Hendrix : violin solo / Paul Stanhope.
Library shelf no. 787.2/STA 2 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
This short violin solo takes as its focus the sort of instrumental virtuosity and energy made famous by the legendary guitar player, Jimi Hendrix. Although there are one or two references to Hendrix's Purple Haze, this piece deals mainly with a few stylistic elements of Hendrix's work and transplants them onto the violin.
The work may be performed with or without amplification, although it takes on a wonderfully "grungy" quality when fed through a guitar amp!
