Work Overview
On Bright Air is a virtuosic solo for flute. The gestures making up the lines (contours and rhythmic activity) are inspired by the imagined motion of a leaf or other light object being pushed around in a breeze, sometimes gently, at other times more vigorously. An introspective middle section, punctuated by rests, contrasts with the more mobile outer sections.
