Work Overview

Through travel within Australia and overseas over the last few years, I have grown acutely aware of the symbolic power of Crux (the Southern Cross constellation). The emotions associated purely with the sentimental place this symbolic power holds within Australian iconography mirror closely many emotions which are less tangible, more profound and of greater personal significance. In a similar manner, this point of time in my development as a composer and in life generally represents somewhat of a 'crux'. This piece aims to idiomatically express these ideas, in addition to being a cathartic recognition of these concepts.
