Work Overview
ffffff...was written as a result of my encounter with the flute-playing machine of Martin Riches, an inventor of machines and instruments who lives in Berlin. As with other works of mine, the influence of certain natural and environmental sounds plays an essential role in the compositional process. These sounds are transcribed and re-worked into a more abstract form. The parallel between mechanism and nature, not so very different from each other from a materialistic point of view, are combined here through a kind of mirroring effect. The title refers to the onomatopaeic sound of the air mechanism inherent to the instrument, which plays a key role throughout the piece.
