Work Overview

This short chamber trio was written for the specified instrumentation ("Sticks and Stones") for the Iron Composer Competition in 2010 at Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory.

The piece was composed in five hours, rehearsed and premiered in concert on the same day (22 October 2010). This piece won the 2010 Iron Composer Competition.

Instrumentation: Flute, cello, percussion (1 player) (bowl of river rocks, concrete/stone tablet, bamboo sticks and leaves, bowl of small pebbles, large wooden stick/tree trunk).

Duration: 6 min.
