Work Overview
The Moon Woman (1999) is a musical contemplation on a canvas of the same name by American artist Jackson Pollock painted in 1942. Pollock's artwork makes much use of bright pigments such as red, green and yellow which gives the canvas a sense of heat and passion that belies the suggestion of its title; the moon is typically viewed as distant, cool and unattainable. The relentless atmosphere of the music attempts to reflect the heat and passion that radiates from the painting.
