Work Overview

Written to be the prelude to 'Tiny Cakes Fugue', which was written about the same time. Both pieces are based on material from a student film by Sue Brooks entitled 'Tea and Tiny Cakes' for which I composed the music. It uses the Mad Hatter's tea party from 'Alice in Wonderland' as a metaphor for the industrial military comlex's perpetuation of the nuclear threat - This was before the end of the Cold War. The prelude was originally used as the underscore to a scene where the threat of nuclear war is discussed.
