Georgina Veevers : Associate Artist
Georgina Veevers is a talented composer and multi-instrumentalist living in Melbourne. She has worked actively in Australian cultural life and many of her works have featured as collaborations with other artists, notably filmmakers and dancers.
Georgina began composing at the age of eight and at the age of twelve was selected for participation in the Program for Educationally Gifted at the Presbyterian Ladies' College. She studied piano, guitar, composition and voice. At sixteen she spent a year studying music at the Silkeborg Amts Gymnasium in Denmark. Upon returning to Australia she returned and began studying the double bass. Georgina studied Architecture at RMIT in Melbourne for a time before commencing studies at the Victorian College of the Arts. She has also studied privately with Mary Finsterer.
Some of Georgina's most notable works are film collaborations, including Chants Meeting, shown extensively at film festivals including the 45th Melbourne International Film Festival, and Way to Somewhere. She is currently active as a performer and is composing the soundtrack for American Stacy Gordin's documentary about Tibetan monastery life entitled Sure.
