One of Australia’s greatest writers David Malouf joins composer Elliott Gyger, librettist Pierce Wilcox and director Imara Savage in discussion with Miriam Cosic of the world premiere of Sydney Chamber Opera's Fly Away Peter.

Based on Malouf’s classic novel, this new contemporary opera tells the story of Jim Saddler, a young birdwatcher from Queensland thrust into the nightmare of the Western Front during the First World War.

David Malouf is internationally recognised as one of the world's finest and most versatile contemporary writers. Since his first collection of poetry in 1962, he has published novels, short stories, collections of poetry, opera libretti, a play and a volume of autobiography. SCO has rapidly developed into an important and distinctive voice in the Australian music and theatre landscape. It has been critically acclaimed for its innovative programming, musical rigour, and focus on emerging artists.
